Ex-ombudsperson: Armenia's ruling regime caters to Azeri-Turkish genocidal policy
Armenia’s former Human Rights Defender Larisa Alaverdyan believes the Artsakh city of Shushi has not been lost forever after its occupation by Azerbaijan in the 2020 war.
She states the liberation of Shushi from the Azeri occupation on 9 May 1992 was a “historic victory which the Armenian people failed to fully appreciate.”
"Internal and external enemies managed to take away the city from us, but the bravery shown by Armenian men must not be overshadowed anyhow. They are heroes and will always remain in Armenia’s history," she told the Hayeli Press Club.
She stressed the need to close the “dark pages in Armenia’s history which started back in 2018” and to move forward to regain Armenia’s place in civilization.
Alaverdyan claimed Armenia “has fallen by the wayside” in recent years.
She accused Nikol Pashinyan's administration of serving the interests of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
"Armenia’s ruling regime simply caters to the Azeri-Turkish genocidal policy, as well as the whims of murky globalist centers,” she stated.
