Armenia says border situation relatively stable after Azeri attack
The situation on Armenia’s border with Azerbaijan has somewhat stabilized following a fresh Azerbaijani attack early on Thursday, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported.
“As of 10:45 a.m., the situation on the frontline is relatively stable,” it said in a statement.
Four Armenian servicemen were wounded after Azerbaijani troops began shelling Armenian positions near the border village of Sotk at 6 a.m. local time. The Armenian army took appropriate defensive and preventive measures in response, the authorities said.
“The statement of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, which unleashed a provocation in the Sotk section early this morning, alleging the Armenian side is preparing for military operations, is another disinformation,” the Defense Ministry added.
