Tatoyan: Azerbaijan planting land mines in seized Armenian territory
Azerbaijani forces have been planting land mines in the areas of Armenia’s southeastern Syunik Province under their occupation, Armenia’s former Arman Tatoyan said on Friday.
"Azerbaijan’s armed forces have invaded Armenian territory and they obviously have no intention to leave,” the head of the Tatoyan Foundation told a news conference in Yerevan.
They have reinforced their positions inside Armenia, building bunkers, roads and infrastructure near the village of Nerkin Hand and the spa town of Jermuk, Tatoyan stated, adding Azerbaijan’s actions are primarily aimed at forcing the Armenian border residents to leave their homes.
"People are deprived of access to water. They are taking control over springs, barring people even from using drinking water. Local residents cannot use their agricultural and pasture lands,” he stressed.
“Azerbaijani forces are laying land mines in the occupied territories, and animals are often killed by mine explosion,” Tatoyan said.
