Mesrop Arakelyan: Yerevan Municipality plans to pay $21,000 more for new trolleybuses
The inaction of Armenia’s law enforcement authorities regarding a possible abuse of funds in the purchase of trolleybuses by the Yerevan Municipality has “achieved new progress”, says Mesrop Arakelyan, co-founder of the Country to Live party.
“In June 2022, a tender was announced to purchase 15 Chinese trolleybuses at a price of 138,560,000 drams ($337,000) per trolleybus,” he wrote on Facebook on Friday.
“In April 2023, a new tender was announced for the purchase of 15 more Chinese trolleybuses at a price of 138,560,000 drams, which is equivalent to $358,000, i.e. $21,000 more. As a result, the Municipality plans to pay $21,000 more for the trolleybuses, which in turn will lead to a waste of more than $300,000 in public funds,” Arakelyan said, calling the attention of Yerevan residents to it.
