Armenia opens criminal probe into latest Azeri attack
Armenia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation into the latest Azerbaijani attack that left one Armenian soldier dead and a paramedic wounded.
Azerbaijani troops opened intense fire on Armenian positions near the border village of Sotk in Gegharkunik Province late on Wednesday afternoon. An Armenian serviceman was wounded in the shooting and succumbed to his injuries before being transferred to the hospital.
An Azerbaijani attack also targeted the ambulance transporting the wounded soldier, as a result of which the paramedic was also wounded. The medic is in satisfactory condition, the Investigative Committee said in a statement on Thursday.
The investigators have opened criminal proceedings over hate-motivated murder and attempted murder.
