Fallen soldier's mother to face off with Pashinyan's son
Gayane Hakobyan, the mother of Armenian soldier Zhora Martirosyan who was killed in the 2020 Artsakh war, will today face off with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's son, Ashot, who claims she attempted to kidnap him outside his home on Wednesday.
The woman, who is a member of the Call of Sons NGO, was hospitalized after being detained on suspicion of abducting Pashinyan's son. She was moved to a police custody on Wednesday night.
Dozens of people gathered outside the hospital to show support for the woman.
The Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper owned by Pashinyan's family reported earlier that members of the Call of Sons NGO tried to kidnap Ashot Pashinyan on Wednesday afternoon. He was allegedly forced into one of their vehicles driven by Ms. Gayane, but managed to jump out of it shortly afterwards. He was reportedly injured after being hit by a car travelling behind which was driven by another member of the organization.
The Call of Sons NGO strongly denies the kidnapping allegations, claiming Ashot himself got into the vehicle.
