Protesters block Yerevan avenue in support of fallen soldier's mother
The Shengavit District Court of General Jurisdiction in Yerevan on Friday continued hearing a motion to arrest Gayane Hakobyan, the mother of fallen soldier Zhora Martirosyan, as part of a criminal probe into an alleged attempt to abduct Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s son, Ashot Pashinyan.
The court is expected to rule on the motion filed by the Investigative Committee on Saturday.
A large group of people gathered outside the court building to show support for the woman, who was detained on suspicion of threatening and attempting to kidnap Pashinyan’s son on Wednesday.
They blocked the Arshakunyants Avenue near the court, paralyzing traffic.
Gayane Hakobyan denies the kidnapping allegations and announced a hunger strike on Thursday.
