Opposition MP slams detention of fallen soldier's mother
MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem denounced the detention of Gayane Hakobyan, the mother of an Armenian soldier killed in the 2020 Artsakh war.
The woman was detained on suspicion of threatening and attempting to kidnap Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s son, Ashot Pashinyan, on Wednesday.
The Shengavit District Court of General Jurisdiction in Yerevan is to rule whether to keep Hakobyan in pre-trial detention or set her free on Saturday afternoon.
In a social media post, the deputy said he and his friends would be joining a protest in support of the woman to be held by families of other fallen soldiers outside the court building at 2:30pm.
“The ruling regime leader and his accomplices must be thrown in jail, not the mother of a fallen hero immorality targeted by the authorities,” Abrahamyan wrote.
