Yerevan court approves arrest of fallen soldier'a mother
The Shengavit District Court of General Jurisdiction in Yerevan has ordered the arrest of Gayane Hakobyan, the mother of an Armenian soldier killed in the 2020 Artsakh war, for one month.
The woman was detained on suspicion of threatening and attempting to “kidnap” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s son, Ashot Pashinyan, on Wednesday.
Presiding judge Zhora Chichoyan issued the arrest ruing on Saturday.
A group of other persons who lost their sons during the 44-day war gathered outside the court building to show support for Hakobyan.
The woman denies the kidnapping allegations and has gone on hunger strike despite suffering from serious health issues.
