Ttombstones with Armenian inscriptions used as building materials found in Tbilisi
Pieces of tombstones with Armenian inscriptions have been discovered during restoration work in the area of a former public school in Tbilisi’s Mtatsminda district, the Armenian Community of Georgia reported.
They were used as building materials for the stairs of the school. The Armenian traces are well preserved on some stones.
Georgia-based Armenian public activist Levon Chidilyan, who spent several days on site studying the stones, believes they are tombstones from the Khojivank Armenian Pantheon of Tbilisi used as construction materials for buildings in central Tbilisi in the 1930s.
