Armenian Defense Ministry says two solders kidnapped by Azerbaijan
Armenia’s Defense Ministry says the two servicemen who went missing on Friday evening have been kidnapped by Azerbaijani forces. Their vehicle was found on the inter-positional road on Saturday.
Communication with the two soldiers supplying food to combat positions was lost at 7pm.
Later, Azerbaijan falsely accused Armenian troops of attempting a subversive attack and said two Armenian soldiers were detained by its forces.
In a statement, the Defense Ministry of Armenia again strongly denied Azerbaijan’s reports as disinformation.
“The weapon belonging to one of the soldiers has been found in the vehicle, which confirms that even if the servicemen had gotten out of the car and got lost in the area, they could not have initiated a subversive attack,” it said.
“Extensive work is underway to reveal the circumstances of the abduction of the Armenian servicemen by Azerbaijan,” reads the statement.
