Armenia probing abduction of two soldiers by Azeri forces
Armenia’s authorities have launched a criminal investigation into the abduction of two Armenian soldiers by Azerbaijan.
Communication with the two servicemen, identified as Harutyun Hovagimyan and Karen Ghazaryan, was lost on Friday evening when they were returning to their outpost after delivering provisions to a nearby combat position.
As a result of search operations, their vehicle was found on the inter-positional road on Saturday, the Defense Ministry said.
Citing preliminary data, the Investigative Committee said in a statement that Azerbaijani forces crossed the border with Armenia and kidnapped the soldiers.
Measures are being taken to find out all the circumstances of the incident.
