Four children in critical condition after tragic car crash in Armenia
Four children are in critical condition in the wake of a deadly car crash in Armenia’s Kotayk Province on Friday.
The accident occurred on the road linking Artashat to Garni and involved VAZ 2106 and Volkswagen ID.4 cars. The 38-year-old driver of VAZ 2106 was killed in the crash, while its six passengers, including five children, and the Volkswagen driver were hospitalized.
According to preliminary data, the VAZ 2106 car carrying two coaches and five minor athletes was travelling to Garni for wrestling competitions.
Three of the wounded children were taken to Yerevan’s Holy Mother of God Medical Center. Another child victim underwent surgery in the St. Gregory the Illuminator (Surb Grigor Lusavorich) Medical Center before being transferred to the Holy Mother of God Medical Center, David Karapetyan, the caretaker head of the Health Department at the Yerevan Municipality, said on Monday.
“Three of the children are in critical condition, while one is in life-threatening condition,” he told a municipal council meeting, rejecting media reports of medicine and blood shortages.
The official said the hospitals only faced shortages of albumin, which was quickly replenished.
