Direct dialogue between Yerevan, Baku key to durable and dignified peace, U.S. insists
The United States continues to believe that direct dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan is key towards reaching a durable and dignified peace, Vedant Patel, the principal deputy spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, said on Wednesday.
His comments came ahead of fresh talks between the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers in Washington next week.
“We look forward to hosting another round of talks in Washington as the parties continue to pursue a peaceful future in the South Caucasus region,” Patel told a press briefing.
“You’ve heard the Secretary and others speak to this. We continue to believe that direct dialogue is key towards reaching a durable and dignified peace,” he added.
