Young Armenian chess players win gold, bronze medals at World Rapid Championships
Armenian chess players have earned gold and bronze medals at the World Under 8-18 Rapid Chess Championships 2023 in Batumi, Georgia.
Robert Piliposyan won the gold medal at the World U16 Rapid Chess Championship after scoring 8.5 points out of 11 on Thursday, the Armenian Chess Federation reported.
Tyhran Ambartsumian claimed the bronze medal at the World U12 Rapid Chess Championship. The young chess player scored 8.5 points out of 11.
The World Under 8-18 Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships 2023 kicked off in the Georgian capital on June 6.
The Armenian team includes 61 chess players, including 47 male and 14 female.
