Paris City Council unanimously passes resolution on emergency aid to Artsakh
On June 5, the Paris City Council unanimously adopted a resolution to provide urgent assistance to Artsakh and the Artsakh people who took refuge in Armenia, the Armenian Embassy in France reported on Saturday.
The resolution stresses that as a result of Azerbaijan's blockade of the Lachin Corridor, 120,000 people of Artsakh have been cut off from the rest of the world since December 12, 2022.
The document recalls that the Paris City Council called on the French government to recognize Artsakh’s independence on November 27, 2020. It highlights the assistance rendered to the Artsakh population by France’s local governments and the solidarity of Paris City Hall with the Armenian people.
The City Council also authorizes the Paris mayor to urge the other administrative regions in France and foreign cities to join the emergency aid initiative aimed at supporting the Artsakh people who have taken refuge in Armenia and shipping food to the people of Artsakh through a humanitarian convoy, the embassy said.
