Opposition MP brushes off Armenian parliament speaker's claims
MP Artsvik Minasyan, secretary of the opposition Hayastan faction, has denied any disagreements between Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) alleged by National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan.
"There's nothing like that, I don't know where Alen Simonyan gets such information,” Minasyan told reporters on Tuesday.
He also condemned the speaker for the offensive remarks about his fellow MP and ARF Armenia Chair Ishkhan Saghatelyan.
"I have also heard the insults targeting Ishkhan Saghatelyan. I think we should not talk much about non compos mentis politicians.”
Speaking about the mobilization of society, he stressed the need for the parliamentary and extra-parliamentary opposition forces to join forces.
"This is not just a problem of one or two parties; this is nationwide problem. Therefore, we should put aside our ambitions and stand together to stop [the government’s plans]. We do not have much time for it. We have to buy time in foreign politics, but it can be done without Nikol,” the MP stated.
