Armenia's CEC approves civic group's request
The Central Electoral Commission of Armenia (CEC) has greenlighted a bill drafted by the HayaKve initiative.
Under the 2018 referendum law, a civic initiative may submit a draft law to the CEC, get its approval and introduce it in the parliament after collecting 50,000 signatures.
The CEC has set a 60-day deadline from 21 June to 19 August for the group to collect the necessary signatures.
"We will receive information about the addresses for the signature collection within three days and will immediately publish them on our social media pages," it said in a statement.
The HayaKve initiative handed over a package of relevant documents to the Electoral Commission a week ago.
The bill seeks to make the recognition of Artsakh as part of any other country and the renunciation of the Armenian Genocide recognition crimes against the constitutional order.
