Former Syunik governor's son arrested
An Armenian court had approved the arrest of Tigran Khachatryan, a son of former Syunik Governor Surik Khachatryan, sought by the Investigative Committee, its spokesman Gor Abrahamyan said on Friday.
The ex-official's son is charged with illegally possessing arms and causing light injuries to a man, thus committing hooliganism.
Tigran Khachatryan has a long history of violent conduct, which involved the murder of a man in 2013. He was arrested but cleared of murder charges and released two months later. Law-enforcement authorities said the shooting constituted self-defense.
