MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem faction says Azerbaijan's installation of a concrete barrier on the Lachin Corridor, the sole road connecting Artsakh to Armenia, raises numerous questions, but the problem is much deeper.

“The trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, repeatedly violated by Azerbaijan, stipulates uninterrupted movement along the corridor and the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Artsakh is responsible for its safety. Instead of regular calls to Baku, the latter must fulfill its commitments,” the deputy wrote on Facebook on Saturday.

“Brussels and Washington clearly realize that resolutions on Artsakh will lead not to the solution of the problem but to the Armenian people's tragedy. However, their geopolitical interests are the highest priority for them.

“Before complaining to international actors, the Armenian authorities should have stopped, apologized to the public, admitted that they are unable to ensure not only security of Artsakh, but also Armenia and left,” Abrahamyan said.

He claimed Azerbaijan “has a good reason” to fear revenge from Armenia due to its brutal acts and non-pragmatic policy.

“Azerbaijan’s authorities have resolved the Artsakh issue only at first glance, they have actually passed it on to future generations, because all that Azerbaijan wants to achieve is to conserve a gunpowder keg, which will explode one day. Although a power change in Armenia is yet impossible, the main task is clear.

“Artsakh has to set clear goals, make its expectations clear to all parties and move forward accurately assessing the situation, there is no other way,” the MP stated.
