Artsakh urges immediate end to Armenia-Azerbaijan talks in Washington
The Artsakh National Assembly condemned the latest Azerbaijani aggression and urged Armenia to immediately end the ongoing U.S.-hosted talks with Azerbaijan.
Four Artsakh Armenian servicemen were killed in Azerbaijan shelling in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
In a statement, the Artsakh Defense Ministry said its positions in the Martakert and Martuni districts came under artillery fire and drone attacks by Azeri forces overnight, but that the situation has since stabilized.
The attack came as a new round of peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan began in Washington. The foreign ministers of the countries met with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday ahead of trilateral talks set to continue through Thursday.
In a statement adopted unanimously on Wednesday, the Artsakh parliament urged the UN Security Council and the leaders of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries to take practical steps and impose sanctions on Baku to curb its aggression.
Lawmakers also called on Russian peacekeepers to take tough measures to stop Azerbaijan’s genocidal actions against Artsakh.
“We urge the Armenian delegation to immediately stop the ongoing Washington walks with Azerbaijan until a full ceasefire is established on the Artsakh line of contact and Armenia’s borders and documented guarantees are provided,” reads the statement.
