Ombudsman: Two Artsakh soldiers killed in Azeri attack transferred to Armenia
The bodies of two Artsakh Defense Army servicemen killed in the latest Azerbaijani attack have been moved to Armenia for their burial in Yerevan’s Yerablur Military Pantheon, Artsakh’s Human Rights Defender Gegham Stepanyan said on Saturday, rejecting Azerbaijan’s false claims that the soldiers were from Armenia.
Azeri forces launched an artillery and drone attack on Artsakh army positions early on June 28, killing four Armenian soldiers.
“In response to media requests, I would like to inform you that the bodies of Yervand Tadevosyan and Samvel Torosyan, the two servicemen who were killed in the June 28 Azerbaijani aggression, were transferred today to Armenia by the International Committee of the Red Cross to be buried in Yerablur as requested by their families,” Stepanyan said in a statement.
“Azerbaijan continues false allegations that the fallen soldiers served in the armed forces of Armenia, thus preparing the ground for new attacks. The Artsakh Human Rights Defender’s Office has already collected all necessary evidence and documents which will be published soon to once again prove that Azerbaijan’s claims are false,” he added.
