Armenia’s SJC dismisses four judges for misconduct
The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) of Armenia decided to remove four judges from office for misconduct at its meeting on Monday.
The judicial watchdog dismissed judge Astghik Kharatyan of the Civil Court of Appeals, as well as judges Tigran Petrosyan and Artak Barseghyan of the Court of Cassation’s Civil Chamber for a “gross disciplinary violation”, granting acting Justice Minister Levon Balyan’s motion.
The SJC also ruled to dismiss judge David Harutyunyan of Yerevan’s Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction for misconduct.
The Judicial Council decided to discontinue disciplinary action against bankruptcy judge Samvel Tadevosyan due to his resignation.
“The decision comes into force immediately after its publication and is final,” SJC Chairman Karen Andreasyan said, adding SJC member Arshak Vardanyan had expressed a dissenting opinion on the matter.
