Opposition MP deplores U.S. envoy’s statement on Artsakh
Armenian opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has deplored the U.S. ambassador’s latest statement on Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
In an interview with the Public TV Company on Tuesday, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien expressed confidence that the Artsakh Armenians can live safely under Azerbaijani rule.
“The Armenian authorities seek the surrender of Artsakh to Azerbaijan at any cost, infringing on all principles and disparaging values on the way to achieve it,” Abrahamyan, secretary of the opposition Pativ Unem faction, wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
“Would the U.S. diplomat, who believes the safety of the Artsakh people can be ensured within Azerbaijan, trust the lives and safety of her family members, other relatives or simply compatriots with ISIL or Al-Qaeda terrorist groups?” the MP asked.
“Azerbaijan’s crimes against humanity make it no less than a terrorist group, thus the ambassador's statements are inadmissible and inflict great damage on both the negotiation process and the U.S. as a mediator,” he stated.
