Armenian opposition MP stripped of parliament post
The Armenian parliament controlled by the ruling Civil Contract party voted on Tuesday to oust opposition lawmaker Taguhi Tovmasyan as the chairwoman of its standing committee on human rights.
A total of 62 pro-government MPs backed Tovmasyan's dismissal in a secret ballot following today’s special parliament sitting.
Only one deputy voted against the proposal and one ballot paper was declared invalid, Counting Commission Charman Narek Babayan announced.
The opposition boycotted the voting.
