What about the examples of brandy and Israel?

Author Anahit Voskanyan

Armenians do not like Israel. The reasons are the country’s close cooperation with Turkey, arms supplies to our enemy... and its “cunning” people.

Nevertheless, the number of people citing Israel’s example on social media has increased recently. So, it's time to write this article, the title of which has been on my mind for several months now.

I won't go into details and will just tell you how the Jews got to create the state of Israel. It’s very similar to the story of how Shustov made his and also Armenian brandy popular.  He hired well-educated people who, elegantly dressed, visited first-class restaurants in Europe and the United States, ordered Shustov brandy and when it turned out that it was not available, they indignantly left the restaurant, saying if they didn’t serve the world's best brandy, the restaurant was not good enough.

Let's get back to Israel. Jews have dreamed of a state for centuries, and perhaps this was the first and most important prerequisite.

We dreamed of our Mount Ararat, and now they are trying to take this dream away from us. Why? Everything starts with a dream. Israel is a good example.

The Jews returned to their historical homeland – the city of Safed.

Then came the brandy part of the example, when well-dressed people went into top-notch restaurants, asked for Armenian brandy and resented the lack of it.

In his speech in the parliament, British politician Edmund Burke said that the reason for the plight of the Jewish people was the lack of statehood.

I cannot say why Jews were repeatedly subjected to violence and massacres. Perhaps for the same "mundane" reasons: they are wily, smart, stay true to their identity and roots and do not assimilate with other peoples.

Anyway, Zionism was created in response to anti-Semitism. If you are afraid of this word, I'll tell you it means those who speak the language of Zion.

That is, the language was accentuated and put on the top.

And although many, if not all, considered the dream, desire and goal of the Jews utopian, that is unrealistic, Jewish intellectuals (Hertz) began to create a program for the creation of the state. That is, an action plan to be followed and executed for the foundation of the state was developed and outlined.

The plan was not like the pre-election programs of Armenian parties, it was effective and included the basics of building a strong state: a constitution, laws, socio-economic system, a military organization, a FLAG.

Do you understand? It’s about symbols that the pro-Turkish leaders of Armenia are now trying to destroy: symbols, rights, defense, entity.

I suppose, while reading you involuntarily think: we have this, we used to have that...

You have noticed that there has already been a return to the historical homeland and a reunion in the spiritual center, haven’t you?

And it was not yet known when this Jewish state would be created; in ten, twenty or a hundred years.... but the plan, the measures were already in place. And the speakers of the language of Zion put three main goals at the core of the formation of the state: to reduce discrimination against Jews, form an independent national culture and develop national character.

Language, nation, culture – unity.

To be continued
