International actors trying to exonerate themselves from Artsakh tragedy, MP says
International actors are trying to absolve themselves of any responsibility for the tragedy in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in advance, says MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem faction in the Armenian parliament.
"The collective West pretends to be making great efforts to resolve the Artsakh issue, while in fact it is ensuring a peaceful Azerbaijanization for Artsakh. The Russians say they were proposing to keep Artsakh Armenian, but the Armenian authorities are surrendering it [to Azerbaijan] at any cost,” the MP wrote on Facebook on Monday.
“The majority of people have no doubt that Armenia’s authorities are serving a Turkish agenda, but international actors must realize that this policy will lead to the ouster of some of them from the region.
“Despite Russia’s claims that its settlement plan is failing only because the Armenian authorities do not want it, it is obvious that Russia is not guided exclusively by the wishes of specific countries in its zone of influence,” Abrahamyan said, adding efforts are being made to squeeze Russia out of the region. He also called out Azerbaijan’s efforts to discredit the Russian peacekeeping mission in Artsakh.
“No matter how much the Ukrainian front is a priority for Russia, they should realize that there are things that will be too late to fix later,” the deputy added.
