Artsakh parliament speaker joins protest against Azeri blockade
The speaker of the Artsakh National Assembly, Artur Tovmasyan, is joining the ongoing sit-in in Stepanakert against Azerbaijan’s blockade of the Lachin Corridor, Artsakh’s sole land link with Armenia and the outside world.
Tovmasyan announced his decision at an emergency meeting with the leaders of the Artsakh parliament factions and standing committees late on Monday.
“The total blockade of Artsakh is worsening with each passing day, which will cause irreversible consequences,” the parliament press office quoted Tovmasyan as saying.
Earlier on Monday, Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan announced plans to join the indefinite sit-in which began after a big rally in central Stepanakert on Friday.
