Missing soldiers' families start indefinite sit-in outside Armenian government
Parents of Armenian soldiers missing in action in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) began an indefinite sit-in outside the Armenian government on Wednesday morning, demanding information about their children's whereabouts.
They announced the sit-in after their demand to meet with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was rejected.
The soldiers served at a military unit in the town of Etchmiadzin before being moved to Artsakh for a combat mission on 21 October 2021. They were encircled by Azerbaijani forces due to a wrong order and have been missing since then.
The protesting families accused the government of failure to take action to find and repatriate them.
One of the protesters, Karine Manavazyan, criticized Pashinyan’s wife, Anna Hakobyan, for sharing a video of fallen soldiers’ parents dancing on March 8 and accused her of turning a blind eye to the sufferings of many other grief-stricken parents.
