Opposition MP shrugs off Armenian leadership's Artsakh remarks
Armenian opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has denounced a statement of his pro-government colleague Hakob Aslanyan calling Artsakh Armenians a “community” in Azerbaijan.
In an interview to 24TV, Aslanyan, who represents the ruling Civil Contract party, stressed the Armenian government “has recognized Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and has stressed the need for the protection of 120,000-strong Armenian community living in Azerbaijani territory.”
“Now, in these circumstances, it does not matter whether the Artsakh president stages a sit-in, hunger or labor strikes, whether the protests outside various foreign embassies will continue, all the same, our international partners will constantly remind us of such statements by the Pashinyan regime,” Abrahamyan, secretary of the Pativ Unem faction, wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
“The recognition of Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan exclusively reflects the position of the Pashinyan regime and is not related to the desire of the Armenian people,” he added.
