Opposition MP slams Pashinyan's regime for Artsakh's subordination to Azerbaijan
Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has denounced the Armenian authorities for forcing Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) under Azerbaijan.
In a social media post on Saturday, he brushed off the claims of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his team that the international community was pressing Armenia to “lower the bar” on Artsakh.
Abrahamyan, secretary of the opposition Pativ Unem faction, recalled Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s statements that he was “pressured to recognize Artsakh’s independence behind closed doors”.
The MP quoted Aliyev as saying that the international community began to recognize Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan only in recent years after Pashinyan came to power.
“It’s a big tragedy that those with Armenian names announce their readiness to surrender Artsakh [to Azerbaijan], at the same time distorting history and falsely presenting Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan,” Abrahamyan said.
