Armenian parliament speaker smiles broadly amid Artsakh blockade, malnutrition
The speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, smiles broadly to the world amid Azerbaijan’s eight-month blockade of Artsakh, malnutrition of 120,000 Armenians and massive blackouts in Artsakh, as well as daily Azerbaijani cross-border fire.
Simonyan, who is enjoying his vacation in Norway after taking a leave in July, has today posted photos on Instagram with a broad smile on his face as everyone is upset about a tragic overnight car crash in Armenia which killed 11 people and is discussing the prevention of similar accidents in the future.
Incidentally, Simonyan’s family has never stood out with modesty. Despite the ordeals befalling the country, the parliament speaker and his wife often post photos and videos from vacations, business trips and parties on social media.
