Pashinyan insists on opening of Lachin Corridor to prevent genocide in Artsakh
The international community has made a joint appeal to Azerbaijan to lift its months-long blockade of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), Nikol Pashinyan said on Thursday, referring to the discussions on the worsening humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh held at the UN Security Council in New York on Wednesday night.
“This call has not yet been fulfilled,” the Armenian premier told a cabinet meeting.
Meanwhile, he called attention to Azerbaijani shootings targeting farmers in Artsakh.
“On one hand, Azerbaijan has blocked the 100 tons of flour sent by the Armenian government to Nagorno-Karabakh, and on the other hand it doesn’t allow the Nagorno-Karabakh people to harvest their own grain to make flour,” Pashinyan said.
“This is yet another fact that substantiates international experts’ claims that Azerbaijan is committing genocide against the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh through starvation, therefore the opening of the Lachin Corridor must be viewed as a step to prevent genocide," he insisted.
