Azeri forces target only wheat field in Artsakh village
The only wheat field in the Sarushen village of Artsakh’s Askeran region has been the target of shooting from nearby Azerbaijani army positions for a long time now, Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) State Minister Gurgen Nersisyan warned on Saturday.
He said in a statement farmers and agricultural equipment repeatedly come under Azeri fire whenever they try to approach the grain field for harvesting.
“Although Russian peacekeepers agree the date and time of harvesting with the Azerbaijani side every time, and the harvest is organized at the presence of the peacekeepers on the ground, constant gunfire is reported as soon as the work starts. The agricultural work has to be suspended, while the civilians are taken to a safe place by the peacekeepers,” Nersisyan stated.
“The residents of Sarushen are deprived of their only source of living – grain harvesting,” he added.
