Mirzoyan comments on lack of UN Security Council resolution on Artsakh
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has disputed the claims that the U.S. is blocking a UN Security Council resolution on Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) following its emergency meeting held last week.
“I don't think that the U.S. is disrupting the adoption of a resolution in the UN Security Council,” Mirzoyan told a joint news conference with his Belgian counterpart Hadja Lahbib in Yerevan on Tuesday, commenting on media reports.
"I don't think the U.S. is willing to be part of or contribute to the policy of ethnic cleansing [in Artsakh]. I can hardly imagine such a thing,"
"I believe and hope that the U.S. has a good idea of the deepening humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh and also realizes that a possible UN Security Council resolution would help resolve this situation, overcome the humanitarian crisis and bring the sides back to the negotiating table," Mirzoyan said.
