Three candidates drop out of Yerevan election race
Three candidates have dropped out of the upcoming municipal elections in Yerevan, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) reported on Thursday.
Sona Kharbertyan and Yekaterina Valeanu from the Uzh Hayrenyats party and Elina Avetisyan from the National Progress party have withdrawn their candidacy, the CEC said in a statement.
Yerevan residents will elect on September 17 a new city council that will in turn install the new mayor of the Armenian capital. Thirteen parties and one bloc are running in the elections.
