Security expert reacts to Pashinyan's statement on Lachin Corridor
Security expert Vahagn Saroyan has reacted to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement that Azerbaijan plans to reopen the Lachin Corridor, Artsakh’s sole land link with Armenia, only in one direction.
“Reliable reports suggest that plans are being made to open the Lachin Corridor only in one direction: that is, to allow exit from Nagorno-Karabakh and not to allow entry,” Pashinyan told a cabinet meeting on Thursday.
In a social media post on Friday, Saroyan claimed Pashinyan’s statement “hinted” at such an agreement with Azerbaijan.
“What does the opening of the Lachin Corridor in one direction imply?
1) Eviction of Armenians from Artsakh with all ensuing consequences,
2) Legitimate basis for the withdrawal of peacekeepers,
3) Facilitating the transformation of Artsakh into "Azerbaijani" territory without the Artsakh people,
4) Betrayal + reprisals = integration,” he wrote, accusing the Armenians leaders of supporting Artsakh’s forced subordination to Azerbaijan.
