Artsakh parliament speaker rejects Baku's supply route
The speaker of Artsakh’s (Nagorno-Karabakh) National Assembly, Davit Ishkhanyan, has rejected the supply line proposed by Azerbaijan as an alternative to the Lachin Corridor blocked by Baku for over eight months now.
At a news conference on Wednesday, he insisted that Baku must instead restore free traffic through the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia in line with the 2020 Russian-brokered ceasefire deal.
The Azerbaijan Red Crescent announced on Tuesday morning that was sending two trucks loaded with 40 tons of flour to Artsakh via the Azeri-held Akna (Aghdam) route.
“Baku’s move to deliver “humanitarian" cargo to Artsakh is unclear to us. First of all, it is unacceptable,” the speaker said, calling it a ploy aimed at squeezing the ICRC out of Artsakh.
"Azerbaijan is taking another provocative political step in an effort to show the world that everything possible is allegedly being done to meet the needs of the Artsakh people," Ishkhanyan underscored.
