Opposition MP: Some anti-Armenian forces trying to wreak chaos in Artsakh
Some anti-Armenian forces are unsuccessfully attempting to create chaos and despair in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), claims MP Hayk Mamijanyan of the opposition Pativ Unem faction in Armenia’s parliament.
His comments came after Arayik Harutyunyan announced plans to step down as Artsakh president on Thursday. He said he would tender his resignation on Friday, September 1.
Mamijanyan expressed strong support for the Artsakh people and urged them to stay strong.
"The resilience of the Artsakh people is immense. It was best evidenced in the early 1990s, when the situation was far worse, but they achieved victory. There is only one difference: at that time, the Armenians in blockaded Artsakh knew that everyone in Yerevan stood with them and had their back. Unfortunately, now they know that the so-called leaders in Yerevan will stab them in the back,” the deputy told Panorama.am in an interview.
“I would like to reiterate that Yerevan and all of Armenia are not Pashinyan and his team. Almost 90 percent of Armenia's population cannot imagine a settlement in which Artsakh would end up as part of Azerbaijan. This is the only thing that the Artsakh people should remember," Mamijanyan said.
