Armenia rejects Azerbaijan's false reports of military buildup
The Armenian Defense Ministry has rejected Azerbaijan’s accusations of military buildup along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border near the village of Sotk.
“The Azerbaijani propaganda is disseminating disinformation that the Armenian armed forces are amassing a large number of weapons, military equipment and personnel near Sotk,” the ministry said in a statement.
“By disseminating such false information, the Azerbaijani side creates an informational basis to continue yet another provocation that began this morning in the Sotk section,” it added.
Two Armenian soldiers were killed and another was wounded after their combat outposts near Sotk came under heavy cross-border fire early in the morning.
Azerbaijani troops also used mortars to strike the Armenian army positions there, the ministry said, adding that the intensity of the gunfire decreased by 11:20 a.m. local time.
