ICRC officials visit Artsakh students arrested by Azerbaijan
Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have visited the three Artsakh students held by Baku, Zara Amatuni, the ICRC spokesperson in Yerevan, told Panorama.am on Friday.
The three young men, identified as Alen Sargsyan, Vahe Hovsepyan and Levon Grigoryan, were kidnapped at the illegal Azerbaijani checkpoint blocking the Lachin Corridor as they were travelling to Armenia in a convoy of vehicles escorted by Russian peacekeepers on August 28. They were arrested in Azerbaijan for allegedly “disrespecting” the Azeri national flag back in 2021.
"Our officials in Baku visited the three young men on August 30 and 31,” Amatuni said.
“They were allowed to contact their families, but I can't say for sure whether communication was established or not," she added.
