Azerbaijan amasses additional equipment, troops at Armenia border
The Armenian Defense Ministry reported Azerbaijani military buildup at the border with Armenia near the village of Sotk on Friday
“As a result of the monitoring of the relevant units of the Armenian armed forces, measures of concentration of military equipment and additional personnel of the Azerbaijani army are recorded in the direction of Sotk,” the ministry said in a statement.
Two Armenian soldiers were killed and another was wounded after their combat outposts near Sotk came under heavy cross-border fire early in the morning.
Azerbaijani troops also used mortars to strike the Armenian army positions there, the ministry said, adding that the intensity of the gunfire decreased by 11:20 a.m. local time.
Azeri troops also opened fire on Armenian outposts near the village of Norabak later on Friday afternoon.
