'Treacherous' Armenian leaders doing everything to stay in power, politician says
Artur Vanetsyan, a former opposition MP who leads the Homeland Party, visited the Artsakh Republic Permanent Representation in Yerevan on the 32nd anniversary of its independence marked on September 2.
Speaking to reporters, he rejected criticism that the opposition has backed away from its fight against the current Armenian government and continues fighting for Artsakh and Armenia.
He regretted the latest border incidents in which three Armenian soldiers were killed and two others wounded in Azerbaijani shelling.
The politician accused Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his team of doing everything they can to maintain their grip on power and called for consistent efforts to oust them.
“The current treacherous leaders are fighting exclusively for power. They stay in power at the cost of Armenian soldiers’ lives,” he claimed.
“Not a day goes by without reports of soldiers’ deaths or capture, our brothers and sisters are starving to death in Artsakh. But the current leaders are doing everything to keep their grip on power. We must not fall into despair, we must fight,” Vanetsyan added.
