Necessary to take responsibility for one's own actions: Russian MFA responds to Pashinyan
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has responded to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s latest statements, stressing the need to “take responsibility for one's own actions”.
In an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica published on Sunday, Pashinyan accused Russia of failing to ensure Armenia's security in the face of aggression from Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh.
Pashinyan also said Armenia felt Russia was pulling back from the wider South Caucasus region, which includes his country.
Pashinyan suggested that Moscow did not regard his country as sufficiently pro-Russian and was unable to meet all of Armenia's security needs, even if it wanted to, because of its own requirements for the war in Ukraine.
"You should shoulder your own share of responsibility, rather than shift the blame to someone else," Zakharova said on Tuesday.
"That is the difference between a politician, a statesman and someone who passes by, not thinking about the interests of the country," she added.
