Activist calls for joint Armenia-Russia-Iran drills
Activist Vahagn Chakhalyan, founder of the Kamk (will) public initiative for preservation of Armenian values, calls for joint military exercises between Armenia, Russia and Iran amid the Azerbaijani military buildup along the border with Armenia.
“Credible reports suggest that the Azerbaijani-Turkish tandem is preparing for new aggression against the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia," he told reporters outside the Armenian government building on Thursday.
Chakhalyan claimed the possible attacks would target Armenian positions and settlements in Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor Provinces.
"In an open letter addressed to the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Iran, we call for joint Armenia-Russia-Iran drills near Jermuk," Chakhalyan said.
The activist and his teammates planned to hand over the letter to the government staff and next head to the Russian and Iranian Embassies in Yerevan.
