Azerbaijan amasses special forces along Armenian border, Tatoyan warns
Azerbaijan is concentrating special military units, including Yashma and Commando troops, along the border with Armenia and the Artsakh contact line, former Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan has warned.
“This is the same policy as before September 27, 2020,” he wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
Tatoyan recalled that the special Azeri forces committed war crimes, including torture and mutilation of Armenian soldiers' bodies, during the 2016, 2020 and 2022 hostilities.
“These units are perpetrators of war crimes and none of them have been punished, they are sponsored by the top leadership of Azerbaijan,” stated the ex-ombudsman, who currently runs the Tatoyan Foundation.
Earlier on Thursday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan accused Azerbaijan of preparing a fresh military provocation by massing troops and equipment along the border.
