Armenian parliament urged to hold special sitting amid Azeri military buildup
The Kamk (Will) Initiative for the Protection of Armenian Values calls for an emergency sitting of the Armenian parliament amid Azerbaijan’s massive military buildup on the border.
In an open letter addressed to National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan, as well as the parliamentary faction heads and the Standing Committee on Defense and Security, the group highlights that Azerbaijan has been massing troops and military equipment along the border with Armenia and the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) contact line in possible preparation for “large-scale” attacks.
Kamk urges the parliament to discuss the impending Azeri military aggression and possible joint military exercises between the Armenian, Russian and Iranian troops.
“Otherwise, the entire responsibility for the disaster caused by inaction will fall on the Armenian government and parliamentary forces sitting idle by amid the ongoing destructive geopolitical and military developments,” the letter says.
