Opposition MP calls out Pashinyan for failure to support Artsakh
Opposition MP Artur Khachatryan has called out the Armenian leadership for their failure to provide political support to blockaded Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and congratulate its new leader, Samvel Shahramanyan, who was elected on Saturday.
"The Armenian authorities are afraid of Azerbaijan’s Aliyev, that’s why they did not congratulate Samvel Shahramanyan on his election as Artsakh president,” the deputy told reporters in the parliament on Monday.
He claimed Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recognition of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty over Artsakh was part of his government's “defeatist and conspiratorial policy”.
Also, the MP criticized the Armenian authorities for shifting the blame for the current difficult situation onto others.
"The co-chairs, former leaders, Covid, global warming are to blame... for the current leaders everyone is to blame but themselves. The Armenian authorities should realize that they are responsible for the fate of the Armenian people, Armenia and Artsakh in the current geopolitical situation,” he stressed.
Khachatryan blamed the policy of Pashinyan and his team for Turkey’s involvement in the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict. According to him, Turkey acts not as a third party, but as a direct participant in the conflict and dictates its own terms.
