Azerbaijan masses artillery, other equipment along border, Armenian official warns
Azerbaijan is massing artillery and other military equipment along the border with Armenia and the Artsakh contact line, Armenia’s Deputy Defense Minister Arman Sargsyan told reporters on Monday, echoing the government’s warnings.
He stated videos posted on social media confirmed the Azerbaijani military buildup. The minister urged the media to follow only official reports.
“We issue statements in case of border escalations and firing,” Sargsyan said. “The Defense Ministry is taking measure within its powers to prevent destabilization of the situation in the region."
“There is always a risk of new hostilities in the region. It is necessary to take steps to avoid escalation and generally large-scale military actions," he added.
