Pashinyan: Situation along Armenia-Azerbaijan border remains tense
The situation along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border remains tense as Azerbaijan continues to move its troops along the state border with Armenia and the line of contact with Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), Nikol Pashinyan said at a meeting of his cabinet on Thursday.
Highlighting the dire humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Armenian premier claimed the one truckload of Russian humanitarian cargo that entered Askeran on Tuesday cannot have any visible impact on the situation.
“Some of the humanitarian goods sent by Armenia and France, in 22 trucks, are still waiting not far from the Lachin corridor, near Kornidzor for the opportunity to enter Nagorno-Karabakh. Another, larger amount of cargo is nearby,” he said.
"The international community continues to call for an end to the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor. All possible diplomatic efforts are being made to ensure the entry of humanitarian cargo into Nagorno-Karabakh and further supplies. It is important to emphasize that the representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh are fully involved in these negotiations and discussions. We should hope that a reliable international mechanism of Baku-Stepanakert dialogue will be created, and we encourage our partners in Stepanakert to engage in such dialogue," Pashinyan added.
